BUFVC - British Universities Film and Video Council
The BUFVC exists to support and promote the production, study and use of film and related media in higher and further education and research. It achieves this through a variety of services (including an information service), databases (providing indexes to numerous collections), and training.

Intute
Intute is a free online service providing the community with access to the very best Web resources for education and research. Intute is based on four subject themes: Science and Technology; Arts and Humanities; Social Sciences; and Health and Life Sciences. Formerly the Resource Discovery Network.
JISC - Joint Information Systems Committee
JISC works with further and higher education by providing strategic guidance, advice and opportunities to use ICT to support teaching, learning, research and administration.

JISC InfoNet is a JISC Advisory Service providing the managers within community with support and advice on strategic planning, implementation and management of Information and Learning Technology
JISC Legal
JISC Legal is a JISC Advisory Service providing the community with advice and guidance on the legal issues surrounding the implementation and use of information and communication technologies so that these can be overcome and do not prove to be a hindrance to organisation's strategic ambitions.
JISC Netskills
JISC Netskills is a JISC Advisory Service that provides staff training and support to make effective use of innovative technologies.
JISC Procureweb
JISC Procureweb is a JISC Advisory Service that provides advice, support and tools that enable institutions to gain cost efficiencies and implement good practice in the procurement process.
JISC Regional Support Centres
JISC RSCs provide local learning providers with signposting and knowledge brokering support to enable these learning providers to realise their ambitions in deploying strategic Information Communications Technologies.
JISC TechDis
The JISC TechDis service aims to be the leading educational advisory service, working across the UK, in the fields of accessibility and inclusion. Their mission is to support the education sector in achieving greater accessibility and inclusion by stimulating innovation and providing expert advice and guidance on disability and technology.
Learning and Skills Network
The Learning and Skills Network is an independent, not-for-profit organisation committed to making a difference to education and training. It aims to do this by: delivering quality improvement and staff development programmes that support specific government initiatives; through research, training and consultancy;and by supplying services directly to schools colleges and training organisations.
Association of Colleges
AoC is the independent voice of the FE sector for ICT and e-learning in the UK. AoC aims to facilitate the active participation in the staff working in the lifelong learning sector in the development, use and exploitation of ICT.
UKOLN
UKOLN is a centre of expertise in digital information management. It provides policy, research and awareness services to the UK library, information and cultural heritage communities. UKOLN advises on technical issues through a series of projects and activities and also provides links to other organisations providing advice on technical issues.
VADS
VADS provides and online collection of over 100,000 visual art images that are copyright cleared for use within the education sector. It also provides advice and guidance to the arts community on the issues of resource management over the digital lifecycle.
ARLIS (UK & Ireland) - Art Libraries Association
ARLIS aims to promote the librarianship of the visual arts, including design and architecture. Work is carried out via committees; each one deals with individual subject areas: education for art librarianship; library provision of visual art resources; and cataloguing and classification. Each committee is sub-divided into more specific areas such as: Research, Publishing surveys and good practice guidelines and Monitoring copyright. ARLIS has a membership base, independent of the committees, which typically consists of providers and users of library resources.
BL - British Library
The British Library (BL) Web site enables users to access a selection of the Library's literature, journals and other information, from a remote computer.
The BL Web site includes: search facilities, either by search engine or indexing; a well defined navigation system; tasteful Web site design; prominent copyright notices and so on. The online collections are varied in their content, nature and duration. Users are advised to explore the current installations and to return later to check for new ones.
CILIP - Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals
CILIP is the leading professional body for librarians, information specialists and knowledge managers. It provides a number of services to its members including: qualifications and training; information and advice; news and comment; and networking and further support.
Collections Trust
The Collections Trust is a new independent organisation for Collections. They provide advice, support and guidance to professionals and the general public to help them manage their collections.
NPO - National Preservation Office
The aim of the National Preservation Office is to provide an independent focus for ensuring the preservation and continued accessibility of cultural heritage material held in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The organisation is contained within the British Library, but the NPO has its own service provision which includes publications, committees and research. Most of the material held on the NPO Web site is of a technical, or report-like, nature. The material will be of use to employees and enthusiasts within the Library and Information Services sector.
CIE - International Commission on Illumination
As its name implies, the International Commission on Illumination - abbreviated as CIE from its French title Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage - is an organization devoted to international cooperation and exchange of information among its member countries on all matters relating to the science and art of lighting. The CIE has been a leading standards developer in this area, producing key standards papers on issues such as colour management, colour space and colour models. Its work is not specific to digital imaging and the available advice takes the form of technical reports and specifications.
ISO - International Organisation for Standardisation
ISO was formed after World War 2 to facilitate the international co-ordination and unification of industrial standards. This also covers technical specifications, documented agreements, rules, guidelines, definitions and so on. These are developed through: Consensus of opinion; Industry-wide (global) solutions / agreements and Voluntary (market driven) requirements. ISO is the most significant of the standardisation bodies.
NISO - National Information Standards Organisation
NISO is a non-profit association accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). NISO identifies, develops, maintains, and publishes technical standards to manage information in a changing and ever-more digital environment. NISO standards apply both to traditional and new technologies to the full range of information-related needs, including retrieval, re-purposing, storage, metadata and preservation.
CLIR - Council on Library and Information Resources
CLIR's is an independent, non-profit organisation. Through publication,s projects and programmes, CLIR works to maintain and improve access to information for generations to come. In order to achieve this CLIR undertakes three activities: foster new approaches to the management of digital and non-digital information resources so they will be available in the future; to expand leadership capacity in the information professions; and to analyse changes in the information landscape and help practitioners prepare for them.
IFLA - International Federation for Public Library Networking

I3A - the International Imaging Industry Association
The mission of the 13A states "I3A is the leading global imaging industry association driving growth of and setting standards for the photographic and information imaging markets. As the industry focal point, I3A offers a framework and environment where members can quickly find resources to solve critical issues and develop market solutions. Members of I3A work together to find common ground for advancing the industry and to enable better products and services for their customers."
VRA - Visual Resources Association
The VRA is a multi-disciplinary organisation dedicated to furthering research and education in the field of image management within the educational, cultural heritage and commercial environments. The association is committed to providing leadership in the visual resources field, developing and advocating standards, and offering educational tools and opportunities for the benefit of the community at large. The VRA implements these goals through publication programmes and educational activities.
