JISC Netskills launches Exploring Digital Storytelling workshop.

As a subject of particular relevance to the use of digital media in teaching and learning, we're delighted to see our sister service JISC Netskills launch a new workshop in Digital Storytelling, the first of which is running next week.

Exploring Digital Storytelling

"This practical, one-day workshop will look at why stories are such an effective method of communication and how the development of web technologies means that people with very little experience of producing media can create movies and sound recordings that can "hook" an audience.

We will be looking at how digital storytelling can be used across a wide range of situations such as marketing and social engagement as well as how to use these techniques to create innovative and engaging activities for students." Chris Thomson - Netskills

Digital Storytelling is concerned with using narratives and story arcs to improve engagement with video, audio, and even non-linear and interactive digital learning materials. Understanding it can help enormously when designing, planning or scripting any kind of user experience. As what I think will be a perfect partner to our Building Effective Screencasts workshop, this looks like an ideal opportunity to investigate how the latest generation of communication and web tools can be best used to get your message across.

Good luck for this inaugural session to Chris and the Netskills team!
