We were recently at Thanet College in Kent filming the first interviews for a podcast series on e-Portfolios.

Filming Geoff Rebbeck at Thanet CollegeAn e-portfolio is a product, created by the learner, a collection of digital artefacts articulating experiences, achievements, and learning1.

Thanks to the pioneering work of e-Learning Coordinator, Geoff Rebbeck, Thanet College is one of the first instituitions in the UK to realise the benefits of e-portfolios. Working with the Institute for Learning, the professional body for further education practitioners in England, Thanet College introduced the e-portfolio system via their Continuing Professional Development programme. In this way key staff have become comfortable with the technologies and are now introducing e-portfolios to their students. Talking with Geoff and other members of college staff it was clear that e-portfolios have made a big impact and students have embraced the new technologies.

Throughout the summer JISC DIgital Media will be travelling the UK, visiting colleges and universities and capturing their e-portfolio stories with the aim of having 5 podcasts online by the end of this year.
