Panoramic video on your phone

A new attachment and app in development enables 360° video capture, allowing you to capture an entire room or panorama in a single shot.
A clever little gizmo known only as the Dot, which attaches to the iPhone 4, enables the phone to capture a single 'wrapped' 360° video file which the accompanying app will reformat into a fully user navigable 'surround' video panorama. This, the makers suggest, is among other things an ideal tool for documenting educational group sessions, workshops etc. While this kind of functionality has been available for a while - including from the Lucy system, by Dot's designers Kogeto - this is the first time we've seen it on a mobile phone.
Using a small convex mirror mounted above the lens, users can capture a kind of 'fisheye' video; the app then stretches and squeezes a section of this image to provide a more'normal' looking image, which can be panned around at will. Sounds confusing? The promo video explains all:
